Name: Michelle Country: United States State: Pennsylvania Gender: Female
Interests: My favorite thing to do is have real, deep fellowship with my friends, especially over a cup of coffee, while taking long walks, or when hanging out at the Welches'. I love to take long walks, and I also enjoy hiking. I think I have an adventurous side, but so far it hasn't really been tested. I think skydiving would be a lot of fun. I want to travel. I will be studying at Oxford Univeristy this spring semester and am hoping to do some travelling in Europe then. I love coffee in any form, and I sometimes have chocolate every day! I'm wild about Shakespeare, both from a lit perspective and from a theatre one. I love reading, writing, theatre. I love movies, especially old ones, and Olivia de Havilland is my favorite actress. I'm a huge fan of sports, especially NFL football (EAGLES!) and figure skating (MICHELLE KWAN!). Expertise: Well, I don't really think I've lived long enough to be an expert in anything. In school, I'm an English writing major and a Spanish minor. I'm thinking about teaching high school lit and writing someday. The Espanol is because I love the sound of the language (Spanish poetry is like music) and because I think in the world we live in it's really important to speak more than one language so you can communicate with people of different cultures. I'm absolutely wild about theatre. I started out as an actress but since taking classes in college, I've discovered directing as well. But I love doing just about anything to do with theatre, even if I'm just ushering for a show. I think I'm a pretty good cook/baker as well.

| i love a good wood fire, outdoors, in the fall. and i love how the smell lingers in your clothes and hair and nostrils for hours after. | | |
| i love middle school kids. i just love them. through a series of convoluted and amazing circumstances, i am now the director of the middle school play at DC - alice in wonderland in case any of you are interested. (if you live around here, you must come see it.) we had preliminary auditions this past week, and they had the spontaneity, the imagination, the creativity, and the sheer joy that everyone who makes theatre should have but that older people too often lack. i am so excited to work with them. they, along with my tenth grade english class (the mischeivous but good-hearted and lovable kids that they are) are going to be a great source of joy to me this semester, i think. this passage challenged my heart this week: "but whatever gain i had i counted as loss for the sake of Christ. indeed, i count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. for his sake i have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that i may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith - that i may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible i may attain the resurrection from the dead." ~ philippians 3:7-11 | | |
| i am in love with high school boys. the girls, not so much. girls are trouble makers, and girls are catty. but the boys - they crack me up. this is what one boy said to one of the other english teachers halfway through the first day of class: "are you going to grow a mustache and make us salute you?" and this is what happened in my english class on thursday: one of the girls in the class: "miss smith, i like your dress...and your shoes...and your sweater." all of the boys in the class: "me too!" *edited to clarify: i love high school boys the way i love cut little puppy dogs ...nothing else intended by the above comments. i just think boys are funny. i have a lot of goofy boys who entertain me and a lot of girls who make me want to pull my hair out.* | | |
